Kisutsch differs from other salmons by the bright-silvery color of its scales. Its tail is high, the sides of its body are above the lateral line, back and the top beams of its tail fin are covered with dark spots. The average size of kisutsch is 60 cm length, but sometimes it reaches 84 ñm.
Kusutsch enters rivers later than other salmons and its spawning period occurs from the beginning of September till March. Frequently it spawns under the ice. In the spawning time both male- and female-fish become dark - crimson. Young fishes come into the sea after one - two years of life in the rivers. Their life in the sea is short, but maturity comes already on the third year of life.
